379-Some More Info Then a Few Recipe Suggestions
On today's show I dive into more terminology in the plant based vegan world then offer a few recipes ideas; baked potato salad and a simple quinoa bowl with black beans, sweet potatoes and some avocado.
Eating a plant based diet is very satisfying. For me, a few ounces of steak cannot compete with a bowl of carbs, whether we're talking mashed potatoes, rice n beans, quinoa, oatmeal etc. Here is what I ate yesterday to give you an idea wof what I eat:
Breakfast:
Oat Muesli w ground flax seed, walnuts, banana and blackberries
Snack: toasted kamut bread with peanut butter
Lunch:
Avocado tacos with salsa, shredded cabage and sauerkraut (yeah I know it saounds weird !)
Dinner:
Quinoa bowl, black beans, mashed sweet potatoes with honey and lime, avocado and salsa. A touch of cashew queso cheese sauce too.
As you can see, a whole foods plant-based diet is filled with healthy and satisfying foods. Much less restrictive then Paleo or Keto....trust me!!
A welcome side effectp is lower blood pressure. I could never get my blood pressure under 140/90 on meds while eating meat and dairy....but it is now 129/76 on plant based after 90 days...hoping to be off my meds soon.
